Drug and Alcohol Detox

Detox is the process of allowing the body to eliminate substances from its system. As drug or alcohol levels in the blood drop, clients may experience a variety of mild to severe withdrawal symptoms. Medical detox provides around-the-clock care to keep clients as safe and comfortable as possible during this process.  

A variety of medications and therapies are used to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. Medical detox can last five to seven days or more and is the first step in addiction recovery. 

Inpatient Rehab

Inpatient rehab services are intensive and require participants to live in a residential facility where they receive 24-hour supervision and full-time, scheduled programming focused on recovery. This type of treatment typically includes a detox program, regularly scheduled visits by a physician, individual therapy, group therapy, recreational therapy, nutritional support and medication-assisted treatment when appropriate.

Outpatient Rehab

Outpatient rehab may be best suited for people who can manage their daily responsibilities independently, including attending drug and alcohol treatment. Outpatient rehabilitation allows for a high level of freedom and flexibility. Clients may live at home or in a sober living community and come to the rehab center for therapy and medical support several times each week. This less restrictive level of care can work well for people who have daily responsibilities, like work or school or those who have already completed an inpatient program. Outpatient programming typically involves nine or fewer hours of programming per week. 

Intensive Outpatient

Like outpatient rehab, intensive outpatient rehab allows clients to remain at home, but the level of participation is higher. Clients typically do more than nine hours of programming per week. An IOP still allows for freedom and flexibility but with a high level of support. The frequency of meetings helps keep clients on track, and the longer hours allow them to engage deeper with their treatment.

Partial Hospitalization Program

Partial hospitalization is a step between residential and intensive outpatient treatment. A client might participate in a PHP as a standalone service or in conjunction with other services. Participants receive a minimum of 20 hours of services each week and may or may not live on-site. Treatment is considered intensive and includes group, individual, and family counseling as well as medical care, treatment for co-occurring mental health conditions, and medication-assisted treatment when appropriate.

Dual Diagnosis Treatment

When an individual has a substance use disorder and an additional mental health condition, it is referred to as a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder. Mental health disorders and substance use disorders can go hand-in-hand. Treating one without treating the other ignores the underlying cause of addiction, while treating both disorders simultaneously leads to better outcomes. Some co-occurring disorders that can benefit from dual diagnosis treatment include depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.

Aftercare

Recovery doesn’t end when treatment is over. Aftercare is an important tool in your long-term recovery success. Aftercare resources include support groups, ongoing therapy, alumni programs, and relapse prevention programs that help clients prepare to maintain their recovery. They may also include referrals to sober living accommodations where clients can practice their skills in real-world situations.
